Electricity bill -security deposit

Hi Experts,

My current month Electricity bill includes some security deposit amount from the discom.

As a tenant am I liable to pay the the security deposit in addition to consumed units or security part is the responsibilty of landlord?

My rent lease does not specifically mention Security part ,but it says I have to pay the electricity bills

Payment of the security deposit is liability of landlord not tenant

The elecricity connection was applied by whom and is in whose name?

Thanks for your answer.

Electricity connection was applied by owner and in his name.

It is Rs 1000 deposit, landlord is reluctant to pay on the pretext that it is a small amount and since you are living in the house and you should look after small tit bits.

Since lease says ,I should pay electricity bills , he is emphasizing more on that.

What can be done?

Payment of Electricity bill is different and security deposit is different. Deposit will be in the name of landlord not you.still owner insist pay and recover it fr rent.
