This is related to my niece. She is 31 years of age, a resident of uttar pradesh. She filed a case of divorce in January 2018 with her first husband and fought it till May 2019 when she re-married formally in a temple with another guy from Haryana via shaadi.com after assurance from the would be second husband that inspite of her ongoing divorce case they are ready to accept her as daughter in law with her adopted son and that after marriage they would get her case transferred to Haryana from UP. She went to Haryana and stayed with them for 6 months and was subjected to all kind of torture from dowry, domestic voilence to both her and son, constant taunts from the husband as well as other family members. They forced her to work in agricultural fields and on refusal used to beat her and make derogatory remarks. Now when asked why they were not getting the divorce case transferred, she is subjected to voilence and threats. She has lodged a complaint with haryana police via e mail on coming back to home and now she wants to take a legal action against them. They have also kept all the ornaments and clothes that her parents had given her at the time of marriage.
Please advise what legal action she can take against them under what all sections.
