The Indian Succession Act was enacted in the year 1925, An Act to consolidate the law applicable to intestate and testamentary succession, of various religions & faiths. The Hindu Succession Act, 1956 was enacted in 1956 to amend and codify the law relating to intestate (dying without leaving a will) succession among Hindus only.
