Difference

What is the difference between a plaint, petition & suit as these words are used commonly referring to the first time case?

Ji, to my best known, PETITION: a formal application of a person/s to a public authority be exercised for grant of a relief/favor, PLAINT: a statement in writing of grounds of complaint made to a court of law and asking for redress of the grievance and SUIT: a complaint (or petition) asking for legal redress by judicial action.
