Depositing Rent With the Rent Controller

sir,
we are living in KOLKATA for more than 40 years for Rent. The property was rented to my grandfather. There were no agreement that time but they provided bills from 1979 to 1986. After that period they stopped to provide rent bills. But i want to deposit rent with the Rent Controller on the basis 1986's bill. Can i do so?

Quick Summary
A tenant in Kolkata, living in a rented property for over 40 years, is seeking to deposit rent with the Rent Controller. They wish to use rent bills from 1986 as a basis, as bills have not been provided since then. The advice given is that Rent Control Acts vary by state, and consulting a local lawyer is recommended for professional guidance.
