There are various authors on the subject, every one is authoritative.

As per your concern!

The combination of Ratan Lal Dheeraj Lal and Sarkar‘s Criminal Procedure Code would be very helpful. In Addition to this if you can Halsbury laws of India (criminal edition- I think it's volume 11 and 12 in the latest edition) it will help you gain clarity overall and not section-wise.
