A treasurer is the elected office bearer of a housing society who is responsible for financial and legal compliances, assets, and liabilities and whose primary job is accurate management and oversight of a society's financial transactions/undertakings.

The bylaws must specify all his duties and responsibilities and he is accountable for the income and expenditure and operating bank accounts with the joint signature of the Secretary or President..

2. Funding, fundraising and sales 

3. Financial planning and budgeting

4. Financial reporting

5. Banking, book keeping and record keeping 

6. Control of fixed assets and stock
