During Cross examination, contradictions emerges in the testimony of the witness (complainant) regarding the sequence of events, places etc

What is the impact of such contradictions in a criminal trial?

If witness is contradicting his most of the statements made under 161 crpc, you can make him hostile, on the contrary,minor contradictions will not affect out come of the case.

If contradictions are pertaining to material aspects, accused can claim benefit of doubt.
