Foras under the Consumer Protection Act, 1986 have inherent powers to restore the complaint that was dismissed for default. This was held by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in its decision in the case of New India Assurance Co. Ltd. Versus R. Srinivasan (2000) 3 SCC 242.
