College not giving documents saying it's gone for verification

It's been 3-4 months since my joining of college, and i need my original documents back for passport application. They are saying I can't get them back because they are gone for verification. I asked them how much longer they said 1 year. This is unacceptable, I need them in a month, and for only 1 week at most(I have seen the documents are still here, in almirah, made a video too)
