Co-operative membership

In a Co-operative of West Bengal (limited of 8 members) now one couple (Husband and wife)  got individual membership,  8 years before their marriage and received allotment of two flats one each.  After living there for more than 20 years the Society asking them to surrender /transfer/ sale-out  one flat on the ground that 'husband wife' cannot continue with two membership/flats.

Please help me in this respect with any such judgements etc.

Quick Summary
A couple in a West Bengal co-operative society, who each held individual membership and flats before marriage, are now being asked to surrender one flat. The society claims a husband and wife cannot hold two memberships. The user is seeking legal advice and judgments related to this situation, questioning the society's authority to make such a demand.

No such laws to my best.  Verify the bylaws of the society and confirm.

To my knowledge, it is impossible that the Executive Committee or any of the  the Office bearers have such legal  authoritiy vested with them.
