I'm a girl from Julaha Caste(SC).

I never used the reservations of SC and ST.

I'm earning now.

My life style is not like that of a Schedule caste.

I dont feel good to be called as a Schedule caste.

You can be converted into any cast.  You cannot get it declared from the court .  First you have to convert to another caste then by issuing a notice u/s 80 fo CPC to the Concerned State Govt., REp.y by Dist., Commissioner and Deputy Director of Public INfomration to make necessary correction in your school records.  When you convert yourself to the another caste take certificate issued by that community elders regarding the change of caste.

Caste conversion is not permissable under law, when you volunatarily want to change the caste law cannot prevent you.  Law is not preventing the forciable conversion.

CAST   CONVERSION     IS    NOT   PERMITTED    IN  LAW.   YOU     CAN    CHANGE    RELIGION     BUT   NOT   CAST.   HOWEVER   AFTER   MARRIAGE   TO   A   HIGHER   CAST   BOY    IT   WILL   CHANGE.

N RAMESH. (Advocate Chennai. Formerly Civil Judge. Mobile.09444261613)     07 March 2010

Caste is attached to your birth. You can not change it. According to indian smritis it is in your blood.

Even by marraige of higher caste boy you cannot change your caste. There is no law to change caste.

Courts can declare existing status. It cannot creat/confer new status or caste.

One can change religion but not caste.

But don't worry. Classification of a prticular caste as schedule caste is done by the government for the purpose of granting benefits.

Caste identity is required only if you seek any benefit under the schemes.

Otherwise, you need not identify with a caste. You can say that you are against caste system and that You don't belong to any caste as such.

Well.If at all your lifestyle has changed so as to show yourself above the status of SC, why should you bother about the caste? Shed out the stigma. Conversion of cast is not possible, but as quoted by Dr.Sanat the marriage with a higher community may pose you as belonging to that community if that community people accept you as such.

P.K.Haridasan (Advocate)     07 March 2010

Be bold enough to state that you have not availed of any benefits . But do not change your caste. You cannot do so by any law. Do not feel inferior.  You have proved that you  are superior than any one born in so called higher castes. It will help you in future. When a statute give you certain privileges, please avail . Do not  waste your valued time for unnecessary thinking.  Use your energy to uplift others to come to your standard of life and thinking.

I appreciate the views of N.Ramesh. As far as changing the case that you belong I dont think even the State Government can change your true caste.I am of the view that the final say in the matter will be that of your own community in which your caste belongs to.It is only the  community of your caste that can derecognise you.

why you cannot creat anexample.  Ther eis no provision to change cast. Ther eis also n provision to thrust reservatin benefit upon you against your wish.

I agree with Mr VM Shroff.  When it is know fact that change of caste (in the eye of law) is not permissible. There is no procedur efor the same. One dies in the cast in whcih he is born. One cannot avail or forgo reservatin benefits by marriage out of community. Fraud is the only way for which memebers of the Forum will never advise. I do not know what method they have devised to change the caste other than fraud.

Vandana S (C)     14 February 2012

Hi,

I belong to a caste in BC and want to marry a boy who belongs to a caste in MBC. I am 25 and he is 30. The familly of that guy are not accepting for the marriage as I belong to a different caste. So, I would like to change my caste voluntarily into the same caste that he belongs before our marriage. This is to get his Family Members consent for our marriage. Does our law and Tradition allow such Voluntary caste conversion ? If so what is the procedure for that? Please Guide.

I assure that I am not doing this to avail any benefits but to lead a life with the person I like.

Thanks&Regards

have you read previous replies which clearly say that there is no provision for caste change (neiother in law nor in tradition). Are you taking viva of experts.

Vandana S (C)     15 February 2012

Hi Sudhir,

I am not a practising advocate to take viva of experts. I am just a normal girl who want to find a way out for my problem.

I had little bit of hope due the following post in the same forum

You can be converted into any cast.  You cannot get it declared from the court .  First you have to convert to another caste then by issuing a notice u/s 80 fo CPC to the Concerned State Govt., REp.y by Dist., Commissioner and Deputy Director of Public INfomration to make necessary correction in your school records.  When you convert yourself to the another caste take certificate issued by that community elders regarding the change of caste.

To be specific i wanted to confirm whether this is really possible.

If you still do not believe me I will give you my details you can cross verify. I cannot publicly disclose it .

Thanks & Regards,

Vandana.S
