In my criminal case at Alandur Court, my case file is not traceable since a year now. The court is not giving further dates because of this. What can I do? Is there a legal action that can be taken, similar to section 201 of IPC?

Your contention is not clear, your case file means whether the case bundle held by your advocate is missing or whether the court bundle is missing?
If your own case bundle is missing you may reconstruct the same by obtaining certified copy of the entire case bundle.
If the court bundle is missing then it is for the court to action as per law.

If your case file is not traceable at the Alandur Court, there are several steps you can take to address the issue.
Immediate Actions: - *File a Miscellaneous Petition*: You can file a miscellaneous petition before the court, requesting them to trace the case file and provide a progress report.¹ -
*Submit a Representation*: Submit a representation to the court, explaining the situation and requesting necessary actions to trace the file.
Legal Remedies: - *Section 482 of the CrPC*: You can file a petition under Section 482 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), which empowers the High Court to make orders to prevent abuse of the process of any court or to secure the ends of justice. -
*Writ Petition*: If the above steps don't yield results, you can consider filing a writ petition before the High Court, seeking directions to the trial court to trace the case file and proceed with the case. Additional Steps: -
*Seek Assistance from the Court Registry*: Reach out to the court registry and provide them with the necessary details to help locate the missing file. -
