Cancelling 498a

My wife in anger , by advise of a lawyer files 498A against me without understanding seriousness of it . Now she regrets it and wants to cancel it now . Its been 20 days since FIR . I am an NRI and I am stuck here in india , if I dont return back in 2 months my visa might get cancelled . Is there any way now to cancel 498A ? What if somehow I get a hearing withing 2 months and in court she says that we compromised . Is there any other option to cancel it ? Please suggest me some way to resolve the issue .

the best and quickest way is to file quash in HC and it will be quashed basis the compromise. The trial court will take years.

Hi 498a is a non compoundable offence as per statute . However after an apex court judgement High courts are now using their extraordinary power to quash 498a fir under section 482crpc on a joint petition filed by accused and complainant. regards and good luck ASHOK
