can we send notice after GWOP Case got numbered

Is there any legal problem for the petitioners advocate to send a notice to the respondent once the case got numbered? Petitioner's advocate is telling that he can send notice only on direction of court since summon would be delivered by court. But petitioner afraid that respondent would play foul games in receiving the summon with her counsel.
