Can police refuse to give statement of compliment ?

Can police refuse to give statement of complainant in house breaking and attempt to murder case and ask him to obtain it under RTI? TIA

Quick Summary
This discussion explores whether the police can refuse to provide a complainant with a statement in cases like housebreaking and attempted murder, suggesting the applicant might need to use the RTI Act. The consensus is that police often adopt a dismissive stance, requiring individuals to seek alternative methods for obtaining such documents. The response also queries the applicant's role (complainant, accused, or third party) and the case status (pending or closed).

The police across the country maintain the same denial attitude.

The helpless applicant have to approach altrenate sources to obtain it.

You are complainant or accused or third party in the matter ?
