Age limit for filing FIR

can a minor file FIR ?

Quick Summary
There is no legal age limit for filing an FIR in India. Any citizen, including a minor, can make a complaint to the police. While a minor can directly file an FIR, their guardian can also act as the complainant on their behalf. The FIR is essentially a record of the information received by the police, initiating the legal process.

As such law doe not prescribe any age limit for registering of an FIR.

Any citizen can make a complaint, and the registration of such complaint rests with Police and the FIR is a copy of such Registered complaint with details.

FIR is a document prepared by Police upon receiving any information, in other words it triggers the process of law in action upon the information received. Even a minor can file FIR there is no bar.
