Mr. Sandeep Bhargava as per hindu adoption and maintanance act a adoptive parest should be medically fit and financially able to care for the chid. A person who is wishing to adopt a child must be atleast 21 years old and child must be below the age of 15 years There must be a gap of 21 years between the person adopting and the child. There is no upper age limit of parents but most of the adaptive agencies set their own benchmarks with regard to age. For exemple a child who is less than a year old, the adoptive parents can have a max combined age of 90 yrs. It means each of them must not be more then 45 years. For adopting the child a adoption deed must be executed. It is mention in section 16 of the above said act that the the registered document will be a conclusive proof of the adoption.

As per hindu adoption anad maintenance act they can not adopt a girl of more than 15 years old, provided that if there is any custom which appiles to them they can adopt a girl of more than 15 years old. But it will have to see, is there any custom exist or not.
