Here are some basic guidelines for writing a research paper -

1. Select a good topic

How do you pick a good topic?

Try to pick a topic you're interested in or a trending topic. Consult your teachers, colleagues, or friends, brainstorming new ideas helps! also, never hesitate to change the topic in case you feel that the topic isn't right for you!

2. Start researching on that topic. Read as much as you can.

Do not limit your research to google. Keep books the primary source of research. There are many other sources which you can always refer to like scc online, jstor, vakilpatra, manupatra, Lexis Nexis, etc.  You can also get a subscripttion to Law Journals, for example in Maharashtra there's MLJ - Maharashtra Law Journal which consists of latest case laws.

3. Analyse and plan your research paper.

Identify the goal of your paper - whether you want to write an argumentative research paper or an analytical one. Also, try to determine your audience - whom are you writing for?

4. Start drafting the paper.

FInalize the outline for your research paper. Justify main points, give key takeaways in the beginning. Acknowledge the authors and scholars. Remember to keep plagiarism to the minimum.

5. Proof read it once you're done and edit it as per the requirements.

Rethink your ideas, read your paper put aloud - it helps to identify a flaw in your writing. You can also ask a professor, a friend or a colleague to read your paper in case there's anything unclear or confusing.

Here's a list of good research papers for your reference -
