Having a Ph.D. certainly gives you an edge over others in the same profession as you. It means that you are an expert in your field.  Having a Ph.D. in law certainly proves beneficial as it is a higher qualification. It makes you employable and can help you find a job in the area of your interest.  But the most major benefit is that it gives you a title which is highly respectable. It also provides you an opportunity to teach at the university level. You also get a chance to network and get into contact with many skilled professionals in their fields.
