when 148 and 150 ipc apply?

Section 148 is more aggravated form of the offence like 144 and 148 can not be read with 149 IPC, and even weapon like Bows, lathis, and stone are not deadly weapon within the meaning of 148 IPC. it is distinct from 150 IPC which covers persons hiring or conniving at hiring of person to join unlawful assembly
