498 criminal case

how long  can i 498 a stay be, as  its been  1year  and 6 months that i have been getting a stay from high  court

when will it be quashed and when can i ask my counselor to quash it

Quick Summary
This discussion addresses the duration of a stay in a 498A criminal case. Previously, stays would expire after six months if not renewed, but an order from the Supreme Court has made them indefinite. If you are the petitioner, this automatic extension is beneficial. While you can request the High Court registrar to expedite the listing of your case, it's generally advisable not to disturb the stay unless absolutely necessary.

Earlier an order of stay passed by a court used to get vacated after 6 months, if not renewed. However, now it has been changed for indefinite period by an order passed by Hon'ble Apex Court.

If you are the petitioner in the quash petition,  the automatic extension of stay is in your benefit.

Hence better don't disturb the trouble due to your curiosity until it becomes absolutely necessary.

However there's nothing prevents you from approaching the registrar of high court with a request to bring the matter at the earliest list.
