what ever be the cause, but the work should not be affected. In typical bollywood style the show must go on....

It is the way to express our protest..... Though services are affected, we are showing our intensified protest.

It's pathetic here, seeing all these weird stuff going on in POLLS. Everyone seems to have some reason to abuse TAMIL LAWYERS. THE LAWYERS IN TAMILNADU ARE AGITATING AGAINST THE KILLINGS OF INNOCENT TAMILS IN SRI LANKA FOR QUITE SOME TIME.TO STOP THE AGITATING LAWYERS WHICH MAY NOT HOLD GOOD FOR SOME POLITICAL PARTIES IN THE COMING ELECTIONS ,LAWYERS HAVE BEEN TARGETTED SO BADLY BY POLICE INSISDE THE COURT CAMPUS WITHOUT ANY PERMISSION FROM THE COURT AUTHORITIES. NO ONE LAWYER IN THIS CLUB READY TO CONDEMN THESE BRUTAL ATTACK BY POLICE AND ITS REAL SHAMEFUL IN LAYWERS COMMUNITY ITSELF.THEN WHAT DO YOU THINK BY THE STAND TAKEN BY BAR COUNCIL OF INDIA AND ALL INDIA ASSOCIATIONS ,BETTER MAKE A POLL INSTEAD. It's really sad that most people will argue, passionately, with you over this point. You're correct, but no one's going to care, because OF OUR STAND AND DECISION. i think its a law & order problem of Sri Lankan government which is getting worsed day by day and our Indian Government must take care of it but should not support unnecessary demand of those. why advocates are taking law in their hands, it should not be done. if they support their views they can raise the voice peacefully. its kind of a same issue as the matter between India and Pakistan over Kashmi but the differnce is that there is no dispute of land in the Srilanka issue.

MANY HAVE NOT PROPERLY UNDERSTOOD THE ISSUE OR MISUNDERSTOOD THE ISSUE. THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF INNOCENT TAMILIANS ARE BEING INJURED/KILLED. THE PROTEST AGAINST KILLING OF INNOCENT TAMILS MUST NOT BE MISUNDERSTOOD AS SUPPORTING LTTE OR INTERFERING IN INTERNAL AFFAIRS OF A COUNTRY.

What is happening is absolutely within the domestic jurisdiction of Srilanka, a sovereign Nation, and it is Political issue. Lawyer should have restrain themselves. They could have taken up the matter with the GOI and pressed the Srilanka Government to respect The International Convention Against Racial Discrimination.

Boycotting the courts referring the Srilankan Tamil issues as i expected lead to unexpected and unwanted situations and the Advocates society of Madras High Court is going to struggle a lot to restore its name and fame. Also it paved way to enter the unwanted social elements to take advantages of the situations.

All other means became futile. They therefore resorted this mode as the Governments (both central and state) did not care even on humanitarian Ground. if India has to keep quite on this issue only on the ground of sovereignty of Srilanka, India Could not ask even UN to put pressure on Pak with regard to TERRORism. they will tell this is sovereignity of Pak. Now india is spending more for Srilankan Tamil refugees settled for more than 25 years. it is not merely a domestic matter of Srilanka. if USA is right for Kwait against Iraq and for afghan against Taliban, then India should too and vice versa. Chennai Lawyers are right. it is nothing but on humanitarian ground.

As lawyer we are all aware of sovereign equality especially the article 2 of the UN Charter. It is really absurbd that our advocates brethern of Chennai had to be overwhelmed by sentiments over their reasons. They could have resort to other means to address the Tamilian issues and perhaps all of us could have joined them in proper manner, which could have been more effective.

It is not desirable to boycott the courts for such a cause. it causes trouble to litigants. Politics should not affect the courts.

it is not merely a domestic matters of a country where a section of people subjected to victimazation on the besis of language and religion by the Government of Srilanka and constitution of Srilanka is amended/enacted depriving the legitimate rights of Tamilians (equality, speach, expression in all the matters). They are being treated as untouchable in the constitution of Srilanka.. it is a fight for justice, equality and life.

No, it is not fair to interfere in the domestic matters of any nation when we are not directly affected.
