NO,It is not necessary to conduct an entrance exam to enroll in Bar council,it is like the matter that for a boy joining the school after passing entrance and this will leads to corroption. So,if It comes to effect then it must be done for existing Lawyers also.there must not be any partiality.

Way the law coleges all over India have mushroomed, the quality education in law has definitely suffered rather lowered. To check the deterioration, it would be prudent that some Central/National University of Law should be established with a mandate to to hold Common Examination all over India,so that only those who desrve are able to enter the noble profession and those who want to sneek in by purchasing degrees-in-law could be eliminated.

to maintain dignity and seriousness of the profession it is necessary, it should not be taken as a competency test but to test inclination.

even though filtering will help the judiciary, but keeping in view the entrance fee and the viability of legal professionals this would be a setback.entance exam wont do much good as xpected and even evil practises can take place.hence it would be better to adere to the normal system and let lawyers hv their fate in their hans itself

If the BCI conduct the test for enrollment, that questioning the recognition given by the BCI to the universities. Moreover, the rule passed by BCI is against qualification for enrollment enunciate in the Advocates Act, 1961

When we go through a competition, there is a glorious feeling within us. I believe this will improve the standard of lawyers as well as people perception on lawyers.

Talent cannot not be recognised by putting common standard known as Exam.. Every body has its own positives and Negatives and the same came out and recognised by only one Exam i.e. Life!!!

I personally feel, the guidelines given by supreme court in this regard is getting implemented after much delay. Though a number of students passing out from law colleges, only about 10% are entering into practice law. In this context only those interested in practice law would give test to enroll themselves. I am sure this would serve as a refresher as well as a compete personality to practice law.

Then it would be applicable to all the other professional courses like , eng , medicine so on for the sake of eligibility criteria to practice.

I appreciate this system introduced by Govt of India. I feel that nowdays everybody doing Law (ex-military, company secretary, business man’s, unemployed @B.A. Graduates, C.A. Professionals) and every body would pass and get their enrollment certificate easily rather than putting efforts in studying. In order to filter them this system is must.

Qualifying exam is unnecessary. It is better to change the syllabus and give a merit base enrollment.

yes it should be mandetory beacause as there is no filtering process in law law field only gets quantity and no quality, peoples found easier to become lawyer and due which law field become over saturated so the exam should become mandetory and i think it also should contain oral exam in the type of moot court which make law student about friendlier regarding courts aspects, presentation, and bar exam should be modeled as US BAR Exam.

EXAMINATION MAKES A MAN PERFECT AND AFTER ALL FILTERATION IS ESSENTIAL TO ASCERTAIN PRACTICAL PERSON WHO DEEMS TO BE FIT FOR HIS/HER PROFESSION FM FRESH PASSOUTS, OTHERWISE CONCRETE DECISION MAY TAKE LONG TIME IN EACH CASES.

Kiran ji, if the quality of legal education has to improve, is it not required that BCI has to restrict mushrooming of such colleges? Where is the need to have entrance exam to filter from the passouts?

Hey Correction The resolution says all advocates enrolled must pass and can not practice without passing. RESOLUTION No advocate enrolled under section 24 of the Advocates Act, 1961 shall be entitled to practice under Chapter IV of the Advocates Act, 1961, unless such advocate successfully passes the All India Bar Examination conducted by the Bar Council of India. It is clarified that the Bar Examination shall be mandatory for all law students graduating from academic year 2009-2010 onwards and enrolled as advocates under Section 24 of the Advocates Act, 1961. That means from the time rule is notified and till the time exam results are out, no cases can be represented by any advocate enrolled under section 24, this means enrollment is allowed, practice barred for all. If so i welcome, but what chaos? no court proceedings till results. wonderful Bar i salute thee

i believe its a good move, let the competent persons enter the profession...mushrooming of too many law colleges has downgraded the quality of legal education.

BCI move deplorable Being incharge of legal education and exams, incl 30 exams @BU, it must have planned it 3 years ago or plan it 3 years ahead, incl in curriculum and ask persons to take it. if it feels quality of education was awful, what has it done to change it. curriculum is boring, exam mode memory mugging and vomiting. no new thinking. If it agrees what 30 exams it conducts is not producing quality how does it think, 31st is lucky medallion will be successful and right. why is it applicable only to current year students? what is the hurry? why not from next year or 3 year down the line? Is this rule not ultra vires the Act? Is this not retrospective application of law? here is classic case of offence by BCI and punishment meted out to students. Does the word Bar affect its functioning?

Is Doctor needs examination? Is engineer needs examination? why should budding lawyers need this? If that student get good marks, is Bar Council is ready to provide cases of MNCs for that student?

absolutely true suchitra Let all from BCI stop practising, till they pass exam i will give them, let us see if they can pass. do they dare take the challenge. Many bandicoots thrive not by knowledge, skill but by other .......... BCI does not know how to control law education, give it to me, i will show you how to run the show.

It is violative of S.20 of BCI Act which gives eligibility for enrollment. Without amending that section, exams cannot be conducted.

Let BCI close all the law colleges and conduct entrance exams. When eligibility is to pass the entrance exam, Why one should spend unnecessary three years?

Those who support please inform if you are lawyers or law students. if lawyers, voluntarily take the exam and do not practice till you pass ATB for failing

There are many better things the Bar Council can do rather than taking entrance exams Its the duty of the universities to decide whether or not a person is fit to pass the law exams or not. Lets not waste time.

An idiotic statement of confession by government that its law course is not good enough to make professionals. Shame on the Bar Council of India, Law Ministry and all those universities just looking at cash registers to whom nothing complained registers. In one side, HRD is working towards removing multiple entrance exams, here we want to test new candidates. Why not test existing lawyers and remove them from Bar, even they came thro the same stinking system?

Do we believe in the competancy of our universities in conducting the exams ? If not let us have a separate "Legal Education Council" who would conduct exams and certify the lawyers rather than spending your good amount of time studying legal papers in a college and finally getting certified by the university and again appearing for another exam !
