My friend's wife left the husband and his home the day after the marriage, stating that she is busy with her work, and she never returned to her husband's home. It has now been two months, and she is expressing disinterest in continuing the marriage. They did not register the marriage. Marriage had happened according to the Hindu tradition. In this case, what legal steps can the husband take to proceed?

Marriage has become business now a days for such kind of women who marry only for sake of maintenance/alimony.
She married to your friend just for monthly maintenance. He business has now started by filing false cases in police/courts to extort money from your friend.
Involve family members in this situation and get seperated by way of Mutual Consent divorce. I think she is least interested in marriage thats why she left.

If the efforts taken by elders of both sides to solve the issues amicably, then your friend can send her a legal notice instructing her to return to the matrimonial fold failing which, he can warn her of legal action as per law.
If she still fails to return then he can file a petition for annulment of marriage for non consummation of marriage.
