Privacy in flat

HI,

I am residing in a flat (8 units) G+3

Each floor has 2 units,

Each house door faces each other in every floor . distance between 2 house would be 12 feet

In this, one of the flat owner is fixing an high power camera facing oppsoite house as well and which will cover opposite house hall movements and affecting privacy of that house people to use thier entance freely,

I would request some to to suggest how to handle this situation and options available.

This flat does not have association and that owner of that house is anrowdy type of category.

Regards

Nalla

get a assoication formed and all these privacy issues to be stated in the BYE LAWS.

Shift to a Villa, where you can have more privacy, as fixing of CCTV cameras in the entrance is common, and the range of cameras may be too sharp and may cover opposite houses also.  Let us not forget, that in most of the criminal acts,  criminals were not caught  due to CCTV cameras of their own, but even police are collecting such footage from many residents and neighbors. Protection of self or privacy of others, has to be chosen.  When there is a lurking danger of such privacy, if we can not proceed against others, we have to prevent and take measures on our own, as privacy of ours is in peril.

The common areas like staircase, passage can be covered and not anyone else's house/hall/premises.

1st: Talk it out and resolve amicably.

Or affix black film/paper/anything on glass portions to avoid peep......

Then Lodge complaint with society under proper acknowledgment.

Then handover the matter to your local counsel....

Has there any specific instance where your privacy has been endangered, or is it mere apprehension?

CCTV cameras are a new phenomenon and, as could be expected, you do not get unprejudiced replies here. You would derive no special advantage either if an association had been formed. You first talk to the person and find out his response. Next you write him a letter. Send him a lawyer notice as the next step. Then go to court.
