Pf accounts

Hi,

I run a company with 30 employees and have EPF ( Employees Provident Fund ) account for all staffs. is PF compulsory for all employees I hire? Is it possible to have contractors/trainees/part-time workers without PF accounts?

PF is applicable to all employees except ‘Trainee’ appointed under Apprenticeship Act/Management’s Standing Orders…………….

Such appointment should be clearly described in appointment letter issued to Trainee and the Act should be preferably mentioned...........................

Such 'Trainees' should be kept as trainee in reality too and not made to work as regular employees doing the work of regular employees....................

There are enough judgments awarding PF to Trainees made to work as regular employees..........................and employer would be penalized too..........................

You have done well by registering for PF and probably for ESIC, Gratuity and other statutory compliance too...............

The employers that violates the rights of employees become popular as violators and carve a bad image for themselves..........................

If the contractor not pay the EPf then principle is liable. So confirm, whether the contractors are have EPF enrollment , and remit epf amount for their worker or not

Isn't PF mandatory for employees with less than Rs 6500 salary?
