my fiance has been trying to get a divorce in chennai since 2009. he finally got the ex parte signed by the lower court judge and the ex wifes family filed an appeal with a higher court. the ex wife has never appeared at any hearing etc. we were told he should have filed in new jersey USA where he lived with her but are now being told by friends to withdraw the petition for divorce in india and file in chicago USA where we now live. we have put off our wedding twice as it poses a legal issue here if he is still married there. any advice? please help!
