Soceity increase maintenance retrospectively

hello

our society is new and it has taken over fom the builder recently. Builder had collected advanced maintenance till Jan 2012. After that due to handing over and all neither the builder nor the soceity collected maintenance.

soceity GBM took place in Oct 2012 and they have revised the monthly maintenance with 100% rise and they want it to be effective from Feb 2012 itself. does the society have rights to increase retrospectively? Many members are against the 100% rise and many are refusing to pay retrospective increase.

The new rates are way too high when compares with the neighboring soceities.

please advise

thanks

Jai

why the society is charging 100% more????? what is the reason please find out that first. there must be a possibility that the builder might have not paid property taxes, wter charges etc. thus to save the society from problem society might have increased the maintenance by 100%.

Kindly confirm the same.

As you are also a part of the society, You can more dominantly challange the terms being imposed the on you people.Any society can not impose any rule retrospectivley.
