Dear Friends,

It may kindly be noted by the advocate colleagues who are filing NI cases that from 1st April,2012 onwards, the cheques validity is changed from 6 months to 3 months. It is applicable to Cheques/Drafts/Pay Orders/Banker’s Cheques. Concerned notification of the RBI is enclosed herewith. This is for information.

Sir,

when there is no balance in the a/c of a drawer of a cheque and at the same time the drawer also gave the stop payment instructions to the bank. Now I want to know whether the bank should give reason for both i.e. stop payment or insufficient fund or only one of them . what is the RBI guidelines on the subject, is there any notifications or rule, please let me know with copy. I will be thankful.
