Can anyone clarify the following points-

1. What is a proprietary article ?

2. Who is the authority to issue a proprietary article certificate?

3. Is diesel genset manufactured by Kirloskar a proprietary article?

Proprietary refers to ownership or characteristics relating to ownership. It describes all the rights that the owner of property can exercise. Proprietary articles are items that are manufactured and marketed under an exclusive right. It has exactinng specifications or patent which  products of other manufacturers may not/cannot conform to.In the light of this assertion "diesel genset manufactured by Kirloskar " can be termed as proprietary if the specification and trademark of it is preferred for procuring the item.
