Forced to give resignation

Dear all,

In my organisation, few management staff employees are asked to give resignation letter. This is because of decision from top management to reduce the cost through manpower reduction.

Is this correct? If yes what is the situation of those employees?

The selected employees are from various dept & category. (For eg: a employee working with this company for more than 25yrs & other is joined a year back).

This is not a regular layoff type. But these people are forced to put their resignation papers.

They are just provided with two months notice period and no other compensation from employer side.

What is the legal action can be taken from employee side?

Please suggest your view on this.

Thank you.

instead of resignation they can insist upon retrenchment.
