Dear all
To my understanding advocates in practice cannot advertise about their services.
If it is so then, whether Websites of Advocates and law firms will be considered as advertisements or not?
As websites are published through internet whether it will be as similar as an ad in a newspaper or any other media for that matter?
If so whether any action against that particular advocate or law firm will be taken??
Pl clarify !!

Good question.
Now a days it is quite common to have their own website. In my opinion it is not an advertisement becaise it does not come under publication.
I think I am correct. Let us wait for the learned members answers.

Yes. You are right. Advertising about advocate is not allowed. Same time website is how can be an advertisement? Thats kind of address to an advocate.. If i have 500 rupees mean i will distribute visiting card to my clients. If i have 50k mean i will creat an web address for my self. Any advocates kept board like, civil or criminal cases can be conduct here? Or 50 percent offer for your civil cases, 30 percentage offer for criminal cases. File one writ petition and get one writ petition as free? Web address is a technology development.

This issue is involve in the forthcomming Legel Practitioners Act.
Website is not a means of advertisement but the contents published on it may render it as advertisement.

creating website is not advertisement at all
it is just like address of place.when sombody Website opens, which way they know that they have website, can be said advertisement

Website ,at worst,can be an sky office of the advocate,every info available there can not be called advertisement but of course if some are found to mean an advertisement ,the prohibiting provisions may get attracted.
