Unmarried daughter's family

(Querist) 02 May 2015 This query is : Resolved
Sir,

I am 35 yrs old lady working with MNC in Gujarat. Since I am unmarried , my family mean my mother , brother & brother's wife are staying with me in my company provided accomodation. My brother is 28 yrs old , married and working in nearby company.
Now my company asking me to vacat family accomodation & preventing my family members from taking benefits of colony residents mean no participation in functions , no membership of gym or ladies club. The reason my company giving is my bro and his wife are not included in my family.
My que is If I am unmarried , can my brother and his family not be considered in my family ????????

No, they will not consider in your family legally.

your parents only be the family members of your family.

The accommodation is provided by the company and the rules set by company has to be observed.

Your immediate family is your spouse/children/(dependent) parents.

If you had declared in employment forms submitted at the time of joining that your brother/brother's wife are to stay with you etc.......then you may gently request the management to allow.

However in case of policy matters managements refer to HR/Admin and avoid to take decisions as it may set a precedence.

Aparently as per actions of the company,.......... It is your call now.
