Please suggest me what should i do.

The vendor (seller)is responsible for any outstanding claim against the property till the date of sale, intimate the vendor and Excise deptt., pay the dues if the seller fails and recover.

But the Seller is absconding and Excise department is telling us to clear the dues. But why should we pay dues.. Please advise whether we are liable to pay dues of selling party..?

If the Excise Department created any Boja on this property with Revenue Department after the date of purchase by you, file objection with the Revenue Authorities to de-register the bhoja by submitting a copy of registered sale deed. Engage a local advocate for this purpose.
