Hi is it compulsary to change surname after marriage. incase if a women from andhra pradesh, india is applying for a passport after marriage, is it compulsary to attain passport with husband surname.
will there be any problem is a women applies for a passport with her maiden name or previous surname even after marriage.
will there be any problem if the women applies for visa for foreign countries

no it is not necessary, in case of marriage there is an affidavit format in the passport application which should be signed by the magistrate. You have to produce with the passport application.

If a women from andhra pradesh , india is applying for passport with old surname or maiden surname instead of husbands surname and we mentioned in passport that she is married will the passport be rejected. what are the possible questions raised by passport authiority.

u are repeating ur querry dear, As Rajeev says there is a affidavit format, that procedure is to be complusory followed and should be annexed along with the application for pass-port.even if u are enquired about the married status there the question rises and will take a big round and reach the same spot to annex the affidavit.So better follow the procedure, read the application 2 to 3 times.

Ans. Yes, your application can be rejected for want of proper proof to show you are married. However, the PP office can send a letter seeking your clarification. If you have ever changed your name, please indicate the previous name in full. This will be applicable to a person who has even marginally changed the name or a lady who has changed her name / surname subsequent to the marriage. If there is no change in name at all, kindly write : Not applicable.

You are advised hereby publish in the two local prominent news papers about the change of name. Enclose affidavit duly attested by notary and in this regard with marriage certificate.The passport officer will not reject your application, they will issue with new sir name.
