Two degrees from two universities

(Querist) 23 August 2012 This query is : Resolved
Can I legally pursue two postgraduate degrees from two universities at once? For eg- LLB from DU and MA Sociology (correspondence) from IGNOU at once if I can manage? Is it legally allowed? What if I drop out from one university by chance?

Thank You

Yes you can , this is permissible, no problem if you discontinue any one course.

Hi Manish,

At a same time you cannot pursue more than one degree where attendance/regular classes is mandatory even it is not legally allowed, if other degree is correspondence/distance basis you can do if you can manage there is no legal restictions for studies if its distance learning.

Normally for joining a new course, you will have to produce transfer certificate from the previous college/university. If you had already submitted it to regular course, it may be difficult to get transfer certificate during the pendency of that course. I am not sure whether you can manage this with correspondence course.

I don't think any transfer certificate is required. I've got my degree. for regular course that will be submitted during counselling and correspondence course just want to have a photocopy of degree. I am doing this because I have already self studied economics. now just want to convert it to a PG degree.
