Municipal water charges at virar

(Querist) 31 May 2012 This query is : Resolved
Builder is demanding 30000/- towards Muncipal water charges for 2 BHK FLAT AREA 740 SQF at VIRAR, MAHARASTRA.

I came to know that VVMC (VASAI VIRAR MUNCIPAL CORPORATION)is charging
Rs. 10000/- for 1RK
Rs. 15000/- for 1BHK
Rs. 20000/- for 2BHK and above.
with recent increased rate.

Earlier VVMC was charging Rs 5,000 for a water line, irrespective of the area of the flat.

pls advise if my information is correct.

If yes, pls let me know how to deal with the builder.

if muncipal corporation is charging rs 20 ,000 towards water connection then demand by builder for rs 30,000 is too much .

cross check your figures . go to muncipal coproration office . let all residents of building get together and make representaion to builder

When you purchase a flat from a builder, you negotiate. There is no MRP and the builder can sell even similar area and configuration flats to different parties at different rates even on the same day or same moment. You can negotiate but you have a deal only when both sides agree. Hence you could have negotiated before you finalised the purchase.

Even now if you talk to the builder, he may reduce the charges. If you talk to your fellow society members, that may put pressure on the builder to reduce the charges.

But remember in India, dissent is not tolerated. If you do not agree to the authority's view point, the authority normally troubles you all the time. take the case of Anna Hazare or Baba Ramdev and the government - if they have been doing something wrong why are they acted upon only when they talk against the government ?

Please check your agreement for sale. Generally the agreed price of the flat includes the cost of water and electric connections. If this is so, the builder cannot ask u to pay the water connection charges separately.
