I want to purchase a second hand car. what the necessary precautions should be taken. Please advise me.

RC, Insurance, upto date tax clearance, police verification/certification about no accidental case pending, duly sworn affidavit of seller, clearance from any hypothecation etc,

Besides the documents recommended by Mr. Makkar, don't forget to take the identity proof and address proof of the seller also. Get the vehicle transferred without delay in your name.

Dear Mr. Tom,
Nobody gets address on the RC gets changed on change of residence on shift of tenancy or purchase of a new house.
