Complaint against verbal abuse on road

Respected Sir / madam,
The undersigned would like to know whether is there law against the person who use to abuse on road to me and while asking him he denies the act which he had done.
Please advise where to lodge the complaint and what evidence is required to make him punishment. What is the punishment for verbal abuse by one person to another without any reason.

Yes, there is a law - Section 290 IPC:
290. Punishment for public nuisance in cases not otherwise provided for.—Whoever commits a public nuisance in any case not otherwise punishable by this Code, shall be punished with fine which may extend to two hundred rupees

1. You can file a Police FIR, requesting investigation and charge-sheet, for offences like cheating, intimidation, fraud against the person, supported with all relevant supporting documents & witnesses.
2. IF the Police does not take action, THEN you can file private criminal case u/s 156(3) Cr.P.C., in the local Magistrates court, seeking directions to the Police to investigate and file charge sheet. The said Person may come down for settlement.
