(Querist) 08 October 2015 This query is : Resolved
My grand father had been allotted a piece of at the time of resettlement of people from pakistan as a refugee.
In compensation a piece of land was alloted of same size agricultural land in india in punjab ropar , he had visited the land last in 1980 and had checked the land records , the land was registered in his name and some person had been growing crops there , due to negligible prices of lands in 1980 , he never bothered to visit the land again . The papers of the land got damaged by termite and now due to advancement , it has become very difficult to locate the agricultural land in between lakhs of acres of other lands , how can the piece of land be traced now . Is there any department that can provide info about where the refugees were alloted land so that one can search out a specific area , can RTI application helpful here , whom should be RTI adressed and submitted .

It is only the land record kepartment can locate the land, because when such land is granted, you have to get that land measured at your cost and then possession is given, so you may go to land records office and also to talati office to find out the survey number.

At least you should have the details of property like survey number, extent and location. In the absence of this basic information, nothing can be done.

You can visit village Patwari and get the copy of Land records.

Meet the Village revenue officials and try to locate the land. RTI may not be of much use.
