How to legally change signature

Guest (Querist) 18 October 2014 This query is : Resolved
I have changed my signature to another style different from my previous one. Now I am thinking of legally changing to the new signature. I came to know that publishing the new signature in the govt gazette is the proper legal way to do this, which I am considering doing it.

I would like to do this so that I can make my signature as uniform across all important identity documents like Passport, PAN, Driving-license, Bank a/c and other such things. So I also contacted the respective authorities like Passport office, Tax dept, RTOs and banks regarding this change. All of them told me that the procedure is simple that I have to just submit the new signature in an application form. In turn I will get new such documents with the new signature.

My question is just this. Is it compulsory to publish the new signature in gazette to make it fully legal or just doing it individually for Passport, PAN and banks is enough to have complete legal validity for the new signature?

Opinions and suggestions from the experts here are welcome. Thank you

First take attested copy of the existing PAN.

Then first apply for new PAN Card by change in sigature.

Based on the new PAN card and the signature shown on that, get the change effected in the Bank account by producing your new specimen signature.

Based on the PAN, apply and get a new Driving Licence with your new signature.

Thereafter, try for change in the signature of your passport.

In my view, there is no requirement to publish any signature in the newspaper or gazette.

You have to submit a letter to all the authorities, that you have changed the signature. In that letter affix your old signature also.

You need not inform in advance, do this once you correspond with them with your new signature.
