Credit card recovery

(Querist) 09 February 2016 This query is : Resolved
On 26/06/2009 I had a Barclays bank recovery person to whom I paid the amount of Rs. 7970/-. This was the final installment which he had asked us to pay for settling the card dues. Now after 6 years a new recovery agent is harassing me, my sister and her husband for the outstanding payment. The settlement letter was to be sent to me by Barclays bank which I've not received. I'm not going to pay a single rupee to these people. What should be my next action?

Record all calls/visits and narrate to the this person that the said amount has been paid.If you have the acknowledgment, show it.

Ask the agent to send all communications by Redg. Post only and stop calling/meeting/harassing, your sister/brother in law and not to contact /approach anyone else with immediate effect.

Write to MD of the bank and attach the recording of conduct of this agent and demand to stop the harassment.

Lodge police complaint under proper acknowledgment.

Thank you sir for the advice. I have sent a detailed email with attachment of receipts to Kotak Mahindra service email id, Kotak Mahindra nodal officer email id and to RBI Banking Ombudsman email id. I have got the print out of this email and going to file a police complaint. I hope I am on right path. Also I had read on the forum that there is a statute about recovering credit card dues which is maximum of 3 to 4 years. Is it correct?
