METAL TOKENS ACT, 1889

An Act for the protection of coinage and other purposes. Whereas it is expedient to prohibit the making, or the possession for issue, or the issue, by private persons of pieces of metal for use as money;

And where as it is also expedient to amend section 28 of the Indian Penal Code; It is hereby .enacted as follows :-

This Act has been extended on and from 30-4-1954 to Angul in the State of Orissa, by the Absorbed Areas (Laws) Act, 1954 (XX of 1954),Sections 2and3and Schedule III. Angul is now a sub-division of Dhenkanal district in Orissa. The Act has now been extended to the Union territories of -

(1) Dadra and Nagar Haveli by Regn. VI of 1963 (1-7-1965);

(2) Pondicherry by Regn. VII of 1963 (1-10-1963); and

(3) Goa, Daman and Diu by Regn. XI of 1963 (1-2-1965).

SECTION 01: TITLE AND EXTENT

(1) This Act may be called the Metal Tokens Act, 1889.
