Section : Short title and commencement

1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act, 1886; and (2) It shall come into force on such day 4* as the Central Government, by notification in the Official Gazette, directs. 5* * * * * --------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. This Act has been extended to-- Goa, Daman and Diu by Reg. 11 of 1963, s. 3 and Sch. and brought into force in Dadra and Nagar Haveli by Reg. 6 of 1963, s. 2 and Sch. I with modifications (w.e.f. 1-7-1965). Rep. (as in force in Bellary District) by Mysore Act 20 of 1956. Rep. (as in force in Ajmer area, Abu Road and Sunel area) by Rajasthan Act 33 of 1958. 2.
