Section : Short title, extent and commencement.

THE SUPPRESSION OF IMMORAL TRAFFIC INWOMEN AND GIRLS ACT, 1956 ACT NO. 104 OF 1956 [30th December, 1956] An Act to provide in pursuance of the International Convention signed at New York on the 9th day of May, 1950, for the suppression of immoral traffic in women and girls. BE it enacted by Parliament in the Seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows:- 1. Short title, extent and commencement. (1) This Act may be called the Suppression of Immoral Traffic in Women and Girls Act, 1956. (2) It extends to the whole of India. (3) This section shall, come into force at once; and the remaining provisions of this Act shall come into force on such date as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
