THE OILFIELDS (REGULATION AND DEVELOPMENT)ACT, 1948 ACT NO. 53 OF 1948 [8th September, 1948.] An Act to provide for the regulation of 1*** oilfields and for the development of 2[mineral oil resources]. WHEREAS it is expedient in the public interest to provide for the regulation of 1 * * * oilfields and for the development of 2[mineral oil resources]3 * * *; It is hereby enacted as follows:- 1.(1) Short title, extent and commencement. This Act may be called the 4[Oilfields] (Regulation and Development) Act, 1948. 5[(2) It extends to the whole of India 6* * *.] (3)It shall come into force on such date7 as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint in this behalf.
