Section : Short title, extent and commencement.

THE INTEREST ACT, 1978 ACT NO. 14 OF 1978 [31st March, 1978.] An Act to consolidate and amend the law relating to the allowance of interest in certain cases. BE it enacted by Parliament in the Twenty-ninth Year of the Republic of India as follows:- 1. Short title, extent and commencement. (1) This Act may be called the Interest Act, 1978. (2) It extends to the whole of India except the State of Jammu and Kashmir. (3) It shall come into force on such date 1 as the Central Government may, by notification in the Official Gazette, appoint.
