Definition.
2. Definition.-In this Act, "cantonment" means any place declared to be cantonment under section 3 of the Cantonments Act, 1924 (2 of 1924). ---------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. This Act has been extended to cantonment in the State of-- Haryana and Punjab by the East Punjab Urban Rent Restriction Act, 1949: vide Notification No. S.R.O. 7, dated 21-11-1969 (w.e.f. 21-11-1969). Maharashtra (except Aurangabad and Kamptee) by the Bombay Rents, Hotel and lodging House Rates Control Act, 1947: vide Notification No. S.R.O. 8 (E), dated 27-12-1969 (w.e.f. 27-12-1969). Assam by the Assam Urban Areas Rent Control Act, 1966: vide Notification No. S.R.O. 102, dated 7-2-1970 (w.e.f 7-2-1970). Bihar by the Bihar Buildings (Lease, Rent and Eviction) Control Act, 1947: vide Notification No. S.R.O.103, dated 7-2-1970 (w.e.f. 7-2-1970). Tamil Nadu by the Madras Buildings (Lease and Rent Control) Act, 1960: vide Notification No. S.R.O. 104, dated 7-2-1970 (w.e.f. 7-2- 1970). Mysore by the Mysore Rent control Act, 1961: vide Notification No. S.R.O. 105, dated 7-2-1970 (w.e.f. 7-2-1970). Kerala by the Kerala Buildings (Lease and Rent control) Act, 1965: vide Notification No. S.R.O. 106, dated 7-2-1970 (w.e.f. 7-2-1970). Kamptee in the State of Maharashtra by the Central Provinces and Berar Regulation of Letting of Accommodation Act, 1946: vide Notifidation No. S.R.O. 2 (E), dated 28-2-1970 (w.e.f. 28-2-1970). Ajmer by the Rajasthan Permises (Control of Rent and Eviction) Act, 1950: vide Notification No. S.R.O. 320, dated 1-7-1970 (w.e.f. 1-7-1970). Uttar Pradesh by the United Provinces (Temporary) Control of Rent and Eviction Act, 1947: vide Notification No. S.R.O. 8 (E), dated 3-4-1972 (w.e.f. 3-4-1972). The Act comes into force in Pondicherry vide Reg. 7 of 1963, s. 3 and Sch. I (w.e.f. 1-10-1963). 2. S. 1 renumbered as sub-section (1) of that section by Act 22 of 1972, s. 2. (w.e.f. 2-6-1972) 3.
