The Delhi High Court granted bail to arms dealer Suresh Nanda, his son Sanjeev and two others who allegedly manipulated evidence in a case of alleged kickbacks in the Barak missile deal. The Nandas, their chartered accountant Bipin Shah and IRS officer Ashutosh Verma had been in custody for the last 53 days. "Each of the petitioners shall be released forthwith," Justice S N Muralidhar said while pronouncing the order. The court said that all the four would have to furnish a personal bond of Rs one lakh and two sureties of like amounts. The Bench also directed them not to leave the country without the court's permission. Suresh Nanda and Sanjeev, who is also an accused in the BMW hit-and-run case, Shah and Verma, Deputy Director (Investigation) in the IT department, were arrested by the CBI on 8th March from a Mumbai hotel. The CBI has alleged the Nandas bribed public servants to manipulate income tax records.
